MARKETING
Marketing is the function of identifying the customer needs and wants and satisfying them,
It focuses on promising customers certain benefits and also delivering them.
Organizational Philosophies
The philosophy is the attitude that an organization has to forwards to market.
Product Oriented
This is where the organization thinks that the products it makes is what is needed by the market.
( eg: “FORD” black colour “T” model)
Although this type of a product may not have any chance of access, a new and innovative product may have a limited success until other players catch up.
( eg: “i-phone”)
Production Oriented
This is where the company is focused on achieving maximum efficiency in the production and also operation. The aim is to carry out production activities at the lowest possible cost.
(Eg : “PIZZA HUT” delivering pizzas when ever wanted increase the price and it is not production oriented unlike a town baker who would do around once a day).
Sales Oriented
In this attitude the focus of the organization is to just sell the product and make the deal. After the sale is done there is no attempt to build any relationship.
(Eg: Celltel, Ford & GM)
Marketing Oriented
This is where organizations have an attitude through which the entire organization (all employees) will be focused on customer needs and fulfilling them.
Social Marketing
This is where through marketing not only are the customer needs and wants fulfilled but also through that the company will contribute towards solving certain social problems.
(Eg : Body shop body butter through which body shop helps poor African communities.)
Social Marketing also about encouraging customers to consume merit goods.
(Eg: "Lifeboy" wash hands 05 times a day campaign.)
And also, encourage customers to stay away from de-merit goods.
(NHS UK get unhooked quick smoking campaign).
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR) & MARKETING
This refers to the concept that marketing should be accountable and responsible. The following concern should be address
01) To whom does the company sell ? ( Eg: Should not target children.
02) Are the company products safe ?
03) Is the advertising fair and balance ? ( Eg: Lifeboy 99% jerms free)
04) Are the dissatisfy customer given the chance to return the good.
05) Is the pricing of the company unfair ?
